Si-Gate GmbH, a leader in the field of Automotive Electronic Development has announced the addition of a FlexRayÂ Daughter Board to their X-1500 32-bit Field Configurable ECU Platform.

Already gaining wide acceptance throughout the embedded applications industry as the premiere FPGA development platform, the addition of the FlexRay Daughter Board to the Si-Gate X-1500 provides engineers the possibility to efficiently develop applications based on this new protocol. ÂThis added feature is answering our customer requests for a serious hardware offering for this up and coming communication network system. It provides a viable solution for a FlexRay to CAN Gateway.Â said Robert Newberry, CEO of Si-Gate GmbH.

The Si-Gate X-1500 is a complete 32-bit Field Configurable ECU platform, combining the highly popular 32-bit ARM7TDMI-SÂ or Xilinx MicroBlazeÂ processor core with standard System-on-Chip peripherals and over 150 user programmable I/OÂs. It is contained within a Xilinx Spartan-3Â 1.5 million gate FPGA with programmable logic for custom driven IP applications, a robust memory subsystem, and a full suite of Automotive and Industrial peripherals. The X-1500 enables programmable System-on-Chip applications and expands traditional development platforms by including necessary physical layers on-board the ECU. In addition to the newly added FlexRay interface, the X-1500 also supports physical layers for 10/100 Ethernet, JTAG, USB 2.0, 12-bit ADC, High and Low Speed CAN, LIN, K-Line, UART, and SPI along with on-board Flash and SRAM memory.

The Si-Gate X-1500 provides designers with a configurable ECU right out of the box suitable for a wide range of Automotive and Industrial applications. The X-1500 is ideal for projects where flexibility and expandability is needed for future ECU developments.

The Si-Gate FMS-Series goes far beyond where typical AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) systems leave off. It is a full-featured AVL system that is also able to gather important vehicle data by communicating with vehicle bus protocols such as CAN via the OBD (On Board Diagnostic) connector. The transmission of the gathered data is an overlapped system using multiple communication protocols via DTE compatible V.24, GPRS, or WLAN. This provides an added security when it is critical that there is not an interruption in the flow of data. ÂWe are very excited about being able to offer this new product to our customers. It leverages our extensive knowledge of vehicle bus systems and brings enhancements to current AVL technology in a very innovative way.Â said Robert Newberry, CEO of Si-Gate GmbH.

With this unique ability to interact directly with the vehicles communication bus, the Si-Gate FMS-Series of Fleet Managers is able to receive all of the vehicles diagnostic information, use configure-able warning codes, and gather vehicle information which is completely out of reach for other AVL systems. This is done by the combination of 22 inputs, 2 high speed CAN and 1 K-Line/LIN inputs, together with 8 outputs.

The amount of configure-ability in the Si-Gate FMS-Series provides fleet managers a new level of information that leaves nothing open for speculation.

Si-Gate GmbH, a leader in the field of Automotive Electronic Development has announced the addition of wireless capabilities to their market leading VDL-1000 Automotive Data Logger. This includes WLAN, GSM/GPRS, and Bluetooth.

Already being the industry standard for comprehensive vehicle bus data gathering, the new wireless aspect of the VDL-1000 gives engineers an added flexibility on how they approach their work. ÂThis addition will address specific customer requests and strengthen the VDL-1000Âs position as the premier data gathering tool for serious automotive electronic developers,Â said Robert Newberry, CEO of Si-Gate GmbH.

The VDL-1000 with its built-in real-time clock has multiple inputs including 2X High Speed CAN with J1939 support, 1X Low Speed CAN, up to 16 analog inputs, and 4 digital inputs with 2 output drivers. This combined with on-board options such as a GPS Module, 3 Axis Accelerometer (2g or 6g), Temperature Sensor, and Barometric Pressure Sensor is able to cover just about every testing scenario found in todayÂs real world environment. With virtually no boot-up time from sleep mode, it can quickly respond and record the data to the internal compact flash card or interface with the on-board USB or Serial RS-232 ports. The Si-Gate VDL-1000 is designed to be a complete data logging system, capturing important vehicle information together with critical sensor data.

With the new wireless capabilities that are now offered in the VDL-1000, it is now possible to remotely stow away the VDL-1000 unit and to still easily retrieve the data to any device that is Bluetooth or WLAN equipped. Or with the GSM/GPRS system, it is now possible to communicate with the data even when it is not contained with in a closed test circuit. As long as the VDL-1000 is within communicating range of a GSM network, it is now possible in real time to remotely interact with the data being gathered, even when it is on the other side of the world.
